Nelson Koepel
Nelson J. Koeppel has been serving as the current Organist/Choirmaster of Holy Mother of the Rosary Cathedral Parish since 1995. Prior to assuming his current post at the Cathedral, Mr. Koeppel served as the Organist and Music Director at Buffalo’s historic Delaware Avenue Baptist Church for 6 years. Mr. Koeppel’s teachers included (the late) Gertrude Sullivan and Kenneth Atkinson, piano, and (the late) Dr. Charles Thomas (SUNY Brockport) and Elaine Gardner, organ. Mr. Koeppel also studied privately with Dr. Barbara Harbach during her tenure at SUNY Buffalo. His current organ coach is Stephen Kennedy at the Eastman School of Music’s Community Music School, Rochester, NY. Mr. Koeppel currently serves as an admissions representative at the National Tractor Trailer School in Buffalo, NY. He currently is serving on the Board of Directors of the Buffalo Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and is a member of the Church Musicians’ Guild (Roman Catholic).
